The Steve McClaren era has started, and it was clear the Englishman has the pulling power as 19,998 fans turned up for the Cuban game inside the National Stadium last Friday and the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) are grateful.
This was the largest crowd since the 17,000 watched the Reggae Boyz played Honduras in 2019 prompting JFF president Michael Ricketts into action.
“It was such a pleasant sight to see a sea of black, green and gold in the National Stadium on Friday night,” said Rickett in a press release on Monday.
“You could definitely feel the energy in the support and every time Jamaica was in possession, the 12th man was behind the team. It certainly is a great stepping stone for future home games to come,” he added.
Jamaica drew 0-0 with Cuba last Friday and the Reggae Boyz will next be in action on Tuesday, September 10 against Honduras in Tegucigalpa.
The next home game for the Reggae Boyz will be Monday, October 14, 2024 against Honduras at the National Stadium.
Tickets for this game are slated to go on sale on Friday, September 13, 2024 and the JFF is encouraging fans to purchase tickets early.
“The public are encouraged to buy their tickets as soon as possible. For the match against Cuba, the Grandstand tickets were sold out. Once again thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you all at our next home game,” said Ricketts.
