The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) says that with the final count complete, the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) secured a seven-seat lead to win the 2025 General Election over the People’s National Party (PNP).

In a statement late Sunday (September 7), the ECJ advised that the JLP garnered the majority of votes in 35 constituencies and the People’s National Party (PNP) in 28.

The JLP also gained the most votes to sweep all three Local Government by-elections in the Denham Town, Chancery Hall and Olympic Gardens divisions.

Extending the preliminary 34-29 lead, the JLP regained Central Kingston after the final recount as incumbent Member of Parliament Donovan Williams held off PNP candidate Steve McGregor.
