JMMB Money Transfer has received approval from the Bank of Jamaica for Visa Direct, a solution that offers near real-time money transfers and enables individuals to move funds between accounts linked to eligible Visa cards.
With Visa Direct remittance senders with Visa cardholders can now send money from either their Visa credit or debit card directly to the recipient’s JMMB Money Transfer Prepaid Visa Card. This development is set to enhance the convenience and efficiency of remittances for Jamaicans.
“At JMMB Money Transfer, we are committed to innovation that empowers our clients and promotes financial inclusion and access to financial services. The launch of the Visa Prepaid Card was a milestone in providing financial freedom to our users,” Sharon Gibson, CEO of JMMB Money Transfer, shared.
“By adding the Visa Direct transfer feature, we’re ensuring that accessing and managing their money is as seamless and stress-free as possible. This is more than just a card; it’s a financial lifeline for some Jamaicans,” she continued.
According to the company, sending money through Visa Direct is quick and straightforward.
JMMB Money Transfer Visa cardholders need to provide their card number to the sender. The sender can then visit the website of any of the following partners – MoneyGram, Remitly, and PaySend – log in, enter the amount they wish to send, select the direct deposit option, and enter the recipient’s JMMB Money Transfer Prepaid Visa card number to complete the transfer.
“This secure and efficient process deposits the funds directly onto the card within minutes, as Visa completes its validation. Once validated, recipients can access their money immediately, any time, day or night,” JMMB Money Transfer shared.
The company introduced the Visa Prepaid Card in March 2024. By introducing money transfer capabilities, Jamaicans receiving funds from overseas on their cards can access their money without visiting a branch or agent location, fostering even greater flexibility and ease of use. Cardholders can use the Visa Prepaid Card at automated banking machines and for point of sale purchases.
Individuals can sign up for the JMMB Money Transfer Prepaid Visa Card via its online portal. The prepaid card boasts several robust security features, including EMV chip technology, fraud monitoring to reduce incidents of unauthorised transactions, and real-time transaction notifications so that users can monitor their spending and be alerted to any suspicious transactions.
