Managing director of JN Life Insurance Hugh Reid has announced the company will be investing in digital technology over the next two to three years to improve customer service and relationship management while driving overall efficiency.
The move comes as the company positions itself to increase its market share.
Reid disclosed the plans during the recent company’s annual Staff Awards at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel where 31 awards were presented to brokers, part-time agents, sales advisers and employees for their contribution to another successful year for JN Life.
“JN Life Insurance is on the cusp of a paradigm shift,” he said. “We will be acquiring a new computer system which will be an integral part of the transformation for JN Life Insurance over the next two to three years.”
He added: “The new system will remove the delays that our agents have in processing applications and claims and improve transaction turnaround times It will also result in better customer experience from the moment someone expresses an interest in one of our products to when it’s time to make claims. Our focus is on excellent customer service to ensure that our clients will have a wonderful experience whenever they do business with us,” he added.

The managing director explained that the company will also launch new and improved products as it grows its individual life insurance market share, which has grown at a compound annual growth rate over the last four years of 56 per cent. Although not disclosing the company’s financials, he said 2024 was a good one for the insurance company despite the challenges.
“The year was not without obstacles, but in the spirit of The Jamaica National Group, we found a way to continue growing and look forward to continuing our growth for 2025. To continue this growth trajectory, our focus will be on improved customer service, new products and continuing to partner with our sister company, JN Bank as we seek to grow market share,” he stated.

Othneil Blagrove, chief of sales and marketing at JN Life Insurance, reflected on 2024 as a year of both challenge and change. Despite the setbacks, the team rose to the occasion and emerged even stronger.
“During the year, we lost three of our top-performing agents due to migration and resignations. That could have shaken us. Instead, it motivated us—the rest of the team stepped up and met the challenge head-on. Because of their determination, we didn’t just meet expectations; we exceeded them,” he affirmed.

He highlighted significant achievements, particularly in the company’s key business lines.
“In our individual life business line, we achieved 136 per cent of our sales targets—an achievement that speaks volumes about the dedication and service of our team members. In our employee benefits business line, we faced a setback after losing a major client. However, we adapted and rebounded, ultimately closing the year at 109 per cent of our sales targets,” he added.
Blagrove also announced that seven JN Life advisors qualified for the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), the premier global association of financial and insurance professionals. While this was a slight decrease from the nine qualifiers in 2023, he emphasised that the achievement remained a testament to the team’s excellence.
The qualifiers—Jacqueline James, Tiffany Lyn, Deon Graveney, Sanya Malcolm, Winsome Atkinson, Shanalee Givans, and Schamona Diah—will represent JN Life at the annual MDRT International Conference in Miami, Florida, in June.
“For the first time in our history, two part-time advisors have qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table. This achievement speaks to the resilience and spirit of our team—proof that we can triumph over any obstacle,” he said.
Blagrove acknowledged the support of broker partners, the JN Group, and its member companies, expressing confidence in the company’s continued growth.
“We have demonstrated our ability to rise to the occasion and push beyond limits. I have no doubt that we will continue to work hard, break barriers, and set new records in 2025,” he affirmed.
