As Tropical Battery prepares to transition from the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) Junior Market to the Main Market, the company has onboarded Jody Gager-Rose to drive its corporate governance and financial integrity ethos.
Gager-Rose has been appointed as the company’s newest independent board member effective August 8, 2024, contributing valuable experience to the transition process. She will also join the Audit & Remuneration Committee, providing essential independent oversight and guidance.
According to Tropical Battery, Gager-Rose’s role highlights Tropical Battery’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance and financial integrity. This appointment reflects a key milestone in the company’s growth strategy, aiming to drive long-term success and deliver greater value to shareholders.
Gager-Rose is a highly accomplished finance professional with over 21 years of experience, including nine years in senior management. She holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University and is recognised as both a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (FCA).
Her expertise includes International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and preparing financial statements, particularly in the travel, leisure, and tourism sectors. She has served as chief financial officer, managing accounting and IT departments, and became a director at KPMG Caricom, supporting operations in the region.
Her achievements have been recognised with awards like Manager of the Year for 2011/2012 and the Sushil Jain Award for academic excellence.
Tropical Battery was listed on the Junior Market of the JSE on September 29, 2020. The principal activities of the company are the sale, distribution and installation of motor vehicle batteries, motor vehicle accessories and renewable energy batteries.
