Six teams emerged victorious after the dust settled on Friday night (December 22) action around the league in the NBA.

Joel Embiid’s ‘dominant December’ continued as the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Toronto Raptors at home. Embiid scored all 31 points after landing awkwardly trying to block a shot with 5:25 left in the first quarter.

The 30-10 streak is now at 13 games and is the longest in the NBA since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did it for 16 straight games in 1971-72. Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey each had 33 points, the second time in franchise history three players have scored 30-plus points in a game.

Another big man, with a big game was Nikola Jokic, who also had a 30-10 night as the Denver Nuggets outlasted the Brooklyn Nets. Jokic had 31 points and 11 rebounds, while Aaron Gordon added 18 points and Michael Porter Jr. had 15 to help the defending champion Nuggets improve to 20-10.

The eighth-place Houston Rockets also came away with a blowout win against the Dallas Mavericks.

Alperen Sengun had 22 points and 15 rebounds and the Rockets took advantage of the absence of injured Dallas stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving and improved to 14-12, snapping their three-game losing skid.

Trae Young again put on an offensive clinic to lead his team Atlanta Hawks in scoring. It was disappointingly in a losing effort as the Hawks fell to the Miami Heat. Young’s 30-point, 13-assist night was not enough to lift his team on the road and the Hawks lost 113-122. The Heat was led by a 30-point night from Tyler Herro and have won two games on the trot.

Domantas Sabonis had 28 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds for his fourth triple-double of the season and the Sacramento Kings beat the short-handed Phoenix Suns 120-105 on Friday night. The Suns have now lost two games in a row and fall to .500 at 14-14, while the Kings are fourth in the Western Conference.

Legendary guard Stephen Curry had yet another record-setting night as the Golden State Warriors pulled away from the Washington Wizards in Jordan Poole’s return to the Chase Center.

Curry is now the 15th player to have 30 points in 25 minutes or less. Curry has also registered his 75th game with at least 8 made 3-point shots.

Curry was cold from beyond the arc to start but made three in a row in three straight Warriors’ possessions and his rhythm was not lost the rest of the way.

Poole top-scored for the Wizards with 25 points but was handed a defeat in his first game in the Chase Center as an opponent. The Warriors have now won four in a row and are tied with the Suns at 14-14.
