Dominic Cummings, the former chief adviser to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in his evidence session with members of parliament (MPs) today, said the United Kingdom government did not heed the data in the fight against COVID-19 last year and that its plan would have seen hundreds of thousands of Brits dying from the virus.
Cummings went on to say that Health Secretary Matt Hancock was out of his depth and totally incompetent.
The man who guided the Brexit movement to success said his advice to go into lockdown sooner was not taken, with the prime minister dismissing the potential consequences of the deadly coronavirus.
Cummings painted a bleak picture of the UK government’s crisis management with top civil servant in the Cabinet Office, Helen MacNamara, walking into Johnson’s office and declaring, “I think we are absolutely f—–“, announcing that thousands of people could perish.
“When the public needed us most, the government failed. I’d like to say to all the families of those who died unnecessarily how sorry I am for the mistakes that were made and for my own mistakes.”

In his testimony before the joint parliamentary committee, Cummings revealed the prime minister had no plan to protect vulnerable people from COVID-19, dismissing it as a ‘scare story’.
“The COVID chaos at N0 10 was like an out-of-control movie,” Cummings said.
“When the public needed us most, the government failed. I’d like to say to all the families of those who died unnecessarily how sorry I am for the mistakes that were made and for my own mistakes.”

Giving an insight into the prime minister’s bizarre management of the crisis, Cummings said Boris Johnson proposed going on live TV and being injected with the virus to demonstrate that there is nothing to worry about and that the pandemic was being over hyped.
The relationship between the prime minister and Cummings has now soured, with some of the view that the former adviser’s testimony are the words of an bitter man looking to make Johnson look incompetent.
Over 128,000 people have died from COVID-19 in the UK and Cummings believes that figure could have been significantly reduced.
“One of the most fundamental and unarguable lessons of the pandemic is that secrecy contributed greatly to the catastrophe.”
