Jolyan Silvera denied bail

Disgraced former People’s National Party (PNP) Member of Parliament Jolyan Silvera will remain in police custody as he was denied bail on Tuesday morning (May 14). 

The ruling was handed down during Silvera’s fourth bail appearance today at the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston. 

The 52-year-old ex-politician for Western St Mary was arrested on January 18 in connection with the murder of his wife Melissa Silvera. 

The mother-of-three was initially found dead on November 10, 2023, from what was thought to be natural causes.

A follow-up autopsy weeks later revealed that Mrs Silvera body’s had three bullet wounds, which elevated the case to a murder investigation.
