Jamaican economist Joseph Cox has tendered his resignation as assistant secretary-general of economic integration, innovation and development (EIID) at the CARICOM Secretariat after nine years of service.
During his tenure, Cox focused on people-centric engagement, fostering collaboration, and nurturing partnerships with various stakeholders. According to him, these efforts have successfully advanced the economic, social, and political integration of the region.
Reflecting on the past years, Cox wrote on his LinkedIn page, “I am immensely proud of our collective achievements, particularly in transitioning from policy development to actionable execution. The financing and implementation of high-value projects have been instrumental in achieving CARICOM’s goals. I am grateful for the support received for the re-opening strategies for the regional economy during the COVID-19 pandemic…”
Successful partnerships cemented
Cox has also written a book titled, ‘The New Normal – A Post-COVID Primer for Business’, which has been widely endorsed by the business community across the Caribbean.
In highlighting successful partnerships cemented across business interest across the Caribbean, Cox identified initiatives in energy, economics, agriculture, transportation and the private sector, among others, that exemplify the successful partnerships the CARICOM Secretariat has cultivated.
