Pledges $5M in container space for Hurricane Melissa relief

JP Logistics Solutions, a multinational logistics player and subsidiary of the Pan Jamaica Group announces the immediate activation of its freight forwarding and consolidation services to expedite the shipment of essential relief supplies to Jamaica following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.

With established operations in the UK, USA and Caribbean region, the freight specialist has swiftly mobilised all available resources to ensure that critical relief goods reach Jamaica quickly and efficiently. As a core part of this relief effort, JP Logistics Solutions has partnered with the Jamaican consulates in the UK and Miami to immediately provide J$5 million worth of shipping container space for the expedited transport of high-priority relief goods that form part of official national aid efforts.

Managing Director of JP Logistics Solutions, Gary Phillips confirmed the company’s focus on streamlining the aid process, saying “our logistics business is operationally strong, and we are redirecting that power to the Hurricane Melissa recovery efforts. Our aim is to simplify the pipeline for relief to move items from the hands of the generous to the communities that need it most.”

For his part, Consul General of Jamaica in Miami Oliver Mair commented, “The response from our diaspora has been tremendous, and this support from JP Logistics Solutions will greatly enhance our ability to get much-needed supplies home.” 

JP Logistics Solutions encourages members of the Jamaican diaspora and partner organizations to coordinate with Jamaica’s Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) alongside the Jamaican embassies, consulates and other official government representatives to ensure that all relief donations are properly coordinated and reach those most in need.
