The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) today announced that they will be closing the doors to seven customer care offices and will be leaning more towards digital transactions.

The utility company, in an email shared with customers Wednesday (March 3), said that in response to the changing requirements of their customers who have over the years increased their use of online platforms to conduct regular transactions, they will be closing seven offices.

The shift to digital transactions has resulted in a reduction in visits to the offices, especially within the last year the company says. In addition to that, the shift has also resulted in less than five per cent of customers in some parishes going to various locations to conduct business.

As a result, JPS will be closing customer service offices located in Portmore St Catherine, Clarendon, St Elizabeth, Westmoreland, St Mary, St Thomas and East Parade in Kingston. However, the Bill Express sections and the courtesy phones to call the JPS Call Centre will remain available in these offices until April 1, 2021.

JPS added that five customer service offices will remain open. These are at: Ruthven Road in Kingston, Spanish Town, Mandeville, St Ann’s Bay and Montego Bay.

Customers will be able to contact the JPS Customer Care through multiple online platforms including the MyJPS Mobile App, which can be downloaded from the Google Play or App Store.

Customers may also reach JPS Customer Care through their various social media accounts, or webchat at the company’s website www.jpsco.com
