The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) is warning customers not to fall victim to a WhatsApp scam sweeping the instant messaging platform and other social media spaces.

In a statement today (July 12), the light and power company said the fraudulent messages do not originate from its offices and urged customers not to click on any link promising $30,000.

“This message is not from JPS and is a scam. The company is not sending any message via WhatsApp or social spaces promising monies for clicking through links,” JPS advised.
