The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) is warning customers not to fall victim to a WhatsApp scam sweeping the instant messaging platform and other social media spaces.
In a statement today (July 12), the light and power company said the fraudulent messages do not originate from its offices and urged customers not to click on any link promising $30,000.
“This message is not from JPS and is a scam. The company is not sending any message via WhatsApp or social spaces promising monies for clicking through links,” JPS advised.

The sole electricity provider also called on the public to first verify promotional activities directly or via its social media pages.
