JSE gets two new directors

The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) has announced the appointment of two new board members.

They are chief executive officer (CEO) at VM Investments Ltd & VM Wealth Management Rezworth Burchenson and CEO of NCB Capital Markets Angus Young. Both appointments were approved at last week’s board meeting and took effect Wednesday, July 24.

Before VM, Burchenson served as CEO of Prime Asset Management, Jamaica’s only independent pension provider. Prior to that, he was vice-president and general manager of Pan Caribbean Asset Management Ltd, with an overarching responsibility for managing Jamaica’s largest unit trust (Sigma Unit Trust).

Burchenson currently serves on the boards of National Road Operating and Constructing Company, National Education Trust , Human Resource Management Association of Jamaica, and Pension Industry Association of Jamaica. In 2012,  Burchenson was named to the PSOJ’s exclusive ‘50 Under Fifty’ in the field of investments and finance.

A Barclays Bank Scholar while at The University of the West Indies, Burchenson received a bachelor’s in economics (Hons.) and an MBA in Banking and Finance (Hons.). His most recent executive education programme was participation in the Kaplan-Norton Strategy Execution Bootcamp by the Palladium Group.

Young joined the NCB Financial Group in 2014 as chief executive officer of NCB Merchant Bank (Trinidad and Tobago) and in 2018 was also appointed regional head of investment banking at NCB Capital Markets and maintained dual roles until his appointment as head of regional investment banking and new markets at NCB Capital Markets on July 1, 2022.

He was appointed CEO of NCB Capital Markets Limited (NCBCM) as of October 1, 2023. Young is a director of NCB Merchant Bank (Trinidad and Tobago), NCB Capital Markets (Barbados), and NCB Capital Markets (Guyana) Inc. Prior to joining NCB Group, he served as the managing director of BDO Financial Advisory Services, which represented BDO’s corporate finance and transaction advisory interest in Trinidad & Tobago.

Before joining BDO, Young was Vice President of Business Development at First Global (Trinidad & Tobago) where he was charged with the responsibility of Corporate Finance & Capital Market origination in T&T and Jamaica. He also did a stint at RBTT Merchant Bank, serving in leadership roles including Assistant Vice President and Regional Manager of Capital Market Origination where he covered the OECS territories and Guyana.
