JSIF accredited by Green Climate Fund

The Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) is now an accredited agency by the Green Climate Fund.

As an accredited agency, JSIF can now access up to US$50 million for climate financing grants to assist persons in rural communities who have negatively been impacted by climate change events.

This was stated by Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, Floyd Green who was delivering his presentation in the 2023/24 Sectoral Debate today (May 16) in the House of Representatives.

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the world’s largest dedicated fund helping developing countries respond to climate change. It was set up by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2010. It was set up as an operating entity of the financial mechanism to assist developing countries in adaptation and mitigation practices to counter climate change
