
Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred made a striking start to her indoor season on Saturday, sprinting to a world-leading 7.00 seconds over 60m at the ‘Woo Pig Classic’ in Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA.
The 24-year-old St Lucian, who trains in Texas, cruised through her heat in 7.04 before unleashing full speed in the final.
Alfred, last year’s world indoor 60m champion in Glasgow, now sits as second-fastest in the event with a personal best of 6.94 set in 2023.
Fresh off her 2024 Olympic 100m gold in Paris and a World Championship bronze in Tokyo, Alfred is gearing up for the indoor season’s highlight, the World Championships in Torun, Poland, from March 20 to 22.
