Julien Alfred’s pursuit of a third global title begins on Saturday, March 21, at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Toruń, Poland.

As the reigning Olympic 100m champion and the 2024 World Indoor 60m champion, she enters the competition as a top favourite to reclaim her title. 

The competition runs from March 20 –22 at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Toruń, where Alfred will aim to reclaim the 60 metre crown she captured in 2024.

Now training in Texas, the Olympic 100 metre champion heads into the meet in red-hot form. Her season- best time of 6.99 seconds currently stands as the fastest in the world this year. The 24-year-old also shares the second fastest time in history over the distance after clocking 6.94 seconds in 2023.

Alfred has dipped under the seven second barrier six times in her career, a feat matched by only one other woman besides record holder Irina Privalova. The Russian great still owns the world record of 6.92 seconds, a mark set in 1993 and matched again in 1995.

Alfred has spoken openly about her ambition to rewrite that record, and the chase continues when she lines up for the opening rounds in Poland on March 21.
