Member of Parliament for East Rural St Andrew Juliet Holness is being criticised by Jamaicans on social media for comments she made during a Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) divisional meeting yesterday (October 23).

Holness was speaking to JLP supporters when she stated that anywhere unsafe to live is occupied by supporters of the opposition People’s National Party (PNP).

“Anywhere that is not safe to live, Comrades (PNP supporters) live there. Anywhere river going to wash you away, Comrade live there. Anywhere that is a garbage dump, Comrade live there and it is not the JLP put them there,” said Holness.

Holness then charged JLP supporters to look around for themselves “and see who really care about you”.

Since making these comments, Jamaicans have flocked to Twitter to share their disapproval of the Holness’s statement.
