In a professional world increasingly defined by rapid job hopping in pursuit of the next best thing, June Bryan, Administrative Manager and longest serving employee at Caledonia Medical Laboratory (Biomedical), has built a lifetime of service and leadership.
From the early days of manual testing to the high-tech, accredited powerhouse the lab is today, June’s career is a 39-year blueprint of what happens when a woman gives her heart to an institution and gains a legacy in return. Her tenure at Biomedical proves that when you are committed to every task, the opportunities are limitless.
Having served as an Emergency Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, and Training Officer, June gradually transitioned into the nerve centre of operations as the Front Office and Customer Service Manager.
Today, her portfolio spans inventory, procurement, business development, and facilities management. When asked what has anchored her to one institution for so long, her answer is a blend of enthusiasm and support from her managers.
“The opportunity to grow and develop kept me here,” June reflects. Through her curiosity, she gained a multifaceted expertise that very few can match. “I was always learning something new and, above all, I am very motivated.”

Landmarks of Excellence
Over the years, June has continued her relentless pursuit of excellence and the laboratory’s growth is a personal achievement. She points to two watershed moments that define her tenure:
Being part of the team that secured the ISO 15189 Accreditation in 2013 – a rigorous international stamp of quality, and working with the team to hit the milestone of more than 50 Collection Centres across the island, coinciding with Biomedical’s 50th anniversary.
Despite the shift in digital transformation of diagnostics from test tubes to touchscreens, June insists that the core value remains the same. “Caring for our clients, doing the right thing the first time, and ensuring authentic results. Doctors rely on us for these results and that trust is earned,” she asserts.

The Rewarding Road of Leadership
Turning to the matter of leadership, June shares that her greatest achievement is not marked by a title but rather the success of those she has mentored. Guiding her team to an uncompromising standard of integrity, she has benefited from their lifelong respect. “I feel really happy when I see people develop, excel, and make a positive contribution to society. I have seen staff members, male and female, pursue other careers that they’re also excelling in, return to say, you assisted in my growth.”
June recalls her first year as Front Office Manager with a particular spark of pride; she didn’t just manage her phlebotomists, she empowered them, ensuring every single one was trained and certified at the University of Technology (UTech). However, she is refreshingly candid about the weight of the crown. “You have to make decisions on your feet and think quickly,” she shares. “You have to be open and honest, and you cannot compromise your standards.”

The Next Chapter
When the lab coats are hung up, June finds peace in a simple profound truth; she left nothing on the table. “What gives me peace is knowing I gave my best, a day’s job and more, no less,” she says with the quiet confidence of a veteran.
Her vision for the future is as expansive as her career. She hopes the women who lead Biomedical after her will take the brand’s signature integrity beyond the borders of Jamaica, serving the world with the same spirit of excellence.
If June could speak to that young woman walking into Biomedical on her very first day, 39 years ago, her advice would be one of endurance. “Keep doing what you do best. Keep the passion for what you do and love what you do.”
Decades later, that passion remains alive and June Bryan continues as the cornerstone of Biomedical, proving that in a world of constant change, excellence and loyalty are still the finest medicine.
