The Jamaican Urban Transit Company (JUTC) and its subsidiary, the Montego Bay Metro (MBM), have announced a new route is to be opened from Montego Bay in St James to Lucea in Hanover.

The Jamaican Urban Transit Company handles movement in the corporate area, whilst the Montego Bay Metro services Jamaica’s second city, operating in St James, Trelawny, Westmoreland, and Hanover.

Prior to the announcement, the MBM handled five routes: Montego Bay to Cambridge, Falmouth, Goodwill, Mackfield, and Sandy Bay. According to the Transport agency, the new route to Lucea has been designed to accommodate students and commuting workers, providing safe and reliable transportation between the two parish capitals.

The JUTC have stated that the fare for its new Lucea to Montego Bay leg will be J$130 for adults, children will pay J$60, and the elderly and disabled will pay J$50.

According to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, this route is only the beginning, with it being a sign of the continued commitment to serving and expanding their facilities for the people of Western Jamaica.
