Juventus have turned to experienced tactician Luciano Spalletti, naming him manager until the end of the season.

The 66-year-old steps in after Igor Tudor was let go following Sunday’s defeat to Lazio. Tudor, who replaced Thiago Motta in March, lasted just seven months, leaving the club after an eight-game stretch without a win.

Spalletti brings a wealth of experience, having guided Napoli to the Serie A title in 2022-23 and later taking charge of Italy. His time with the national team included Euro 2024 qualification, though they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Switzerland.

He was dismissed in June after a World Cup qualifying loss to Norway left Italy at risk of missing their third straight World Cup.

In Serie A, Spalletti has also managed Inter Milan, Roma, and Udinese, and he claimed two Russian Premier League titles with Zenit St Petersburg.

Juventus have been struggling this season. Interim boss Massimo Brambilla led them to a 3-1 win over Udinese, but the club sits seventh in Serie A, six points off Napoli, and are winless in the Champions League with one loss and two draws in three matches.
