JWPL | Arnett Gardens dent the Frazsiers whip juggernaut with 1-1 draw in

With the playoffs just around the corner, Arnett Gardens showed that they will be serious contenders in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League after battling to a 1-1 draw with favourites Frazsiers Whip at the Charlie Smith High School on Saturday.

Tatyana Black gave the home team, Arnett Gardens, a 75th-minute lead, and it seemed that they would inflict the first defeat on Frazsiers Whip this season. But the champion hit back in the dying moments, scoring in the 90+6 minutes by Shaneil Buckley for a share of the points.

Frazsiers Whip remained on top of the league with 55 points while Arnett Gardens are third on 42 points.

Meanwhile, second-placed Cavalier on 50 points trounced Real Mobay 8-0 with four goals from Deshana Cole scoring in the 2nd, 26th, 64th and 66th minutes. This takes her tally to 11 goals for the season.

Brittany McGrath got in on the act, netting twice in the 80th and 90th minutes as Shadie Shirley (36th) and Oniella Perkins (50th) completed the rout. Real Mobay dropped to ninth spot with 13 points.

Proven Girls secured a rare win, beating Springers United 2-0 at the York Sports Complex and climbed one spot into eighth position on 16 points. Lesha Reid opened the scoring in the 40th minute before Julicia Pinnock sealed the victory netting in minute 79.

Springers, which was losing their 17th game of the season, remained rooted at the bottom of the league on four points.

At the UWI Bowl, home team UWI Women whipped  Federal United 4-1 and maintained their seventh position with 16 points. Chris-Ann Chambers scored twice in the 20th and 58th minutes, while Ashley Cunningham (22nd) and Dejana Lewis (36th) also scored.

Nicolette Spencer scored a consolation for Federal United in minute 87 as they remained second from bottom in 10th spot on nine points.

Mile Gully FC and WiFi United battled to a 0-0 draw at the Mile Gully Community Centre. Both teams maintained their positions with Mile Gully in fifth on 25 points and Wifi just in sixth spot, also on 25 points.
