Embattled American national Kalina Collier has been fired from JetBlue Airways with immediate effect, the company told Our Today.

Manager of Corporate Communications, Derek Dombrowski said the decision was reached late Tuesday afternoon (February 16) as JetBlue concluded its investigations.

“After an investigation, the crewmember in question is no longer with JetBlue. We continue to offer our apologies for the frustration and concern this incident has caused and reiterate our confidence in the health protocols Jamaica has put in place,” Dombrowski indicated.

The 22-year-old Queens native was suspended by the carrier hours earlier as JetBlue launched an ‘urgent investigation’ a day prior. Collier, a part-time chef and aspiring social media influencer, arrived back in the United States late Sunday evening after she was cleared by Jamaican health officials.

Collier, through a series of Instagram Live streams, became the centre of a multi-agency investigation as she pleaded to thousands of people on the internet for help after being required to adhere to isolation protocols.

The American tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) twice and accused the Jamaican Government as well as Trelawny -based all-inclusive resort Ocean Coral Spring of holding her against her will.
