The CPKC Stadium in Kansas City has been selected as a host venue for the third annual MexTour W, as Mexico’s female team plays their Jamaican counterparts in two international friendlies.

The matches get underway in April 2025, as the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) announced details for the two games last Thursday (February 13).

Mexico will face Jamaica in Kansas City on April 5 at 4:30 pm, marking the first-ever international friendly at CPKC Stadium, which opened in March 2024.

CPKC is the first stadium in the world, which is purpose-built for a women’s professional team. The CPKC Stadium is no stranger to hosting high-profile events, as the venue hosted the 2024 NWSL Championship match and is set to host the NCAA Women’s College Cup in 2025.

The CPKC Stadium has also hosted the 2024 Big 12 Soccer Championship, the semifinal round of the 2024 NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup and the 2024 instalment of The Women’s Cup, which brought international club teams from three different continents to Kansas City.

The return match is set for April 8 at the Shell Energy Stadium in Houston.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Pedro Lopez, the Mexican Women’s National Team will use the two matches to strengthen and solidify their squad as they gear up for the qualification tournament for the 2027 FIFA World Cup and 2028 Olympics.  The Mexican women last played Jamaica in the first round of the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, with Mexico recording a victory.

Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz are led by head coach Hubert Busby Jr. with team captain Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, a star forward for Manchester City.  She is the all-time leading scorer for both her club and national team, and the most capped player in the history of the Jamaican women’s national team.
