Fashion and music mogul Kanye West has left some fans infuriated after revealing that his upcoming album, Donda 2, will not be available on streaming platforms.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday (February 17) night to make the announcement, West shared his thoughts on what he described as an oppressive music system, noting that he wants to free music.
The video post displaying Stem Player and its lights which glow in accordance with the playing of the song, had the attached caption “Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube. Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes”.
The announcement created the impression that fans will now be required to pay US$200 to listen to the album either on the music gadget or possibly the site.
However, @TheKanyeSource has explained that the Stem Player does not have to be purchased to get the album. The Stem Player only enhances the experience.

As West continued, he shared that it is now time to free music from the oppressive system.
“It’s time to take control and build our own. Go to stemplayer.com now to order.”
Making a second post just two hours later, with an identical video but different song, West reiterated that Donda 2 will not be available on streaming platforms and provided further details on what fans can expect.

“You can download my new music from stemplayer.com. You can play four different elements of the track: vocals, drums, bass and music.”

He continued, directing fans to where they can make the purchase.
“It also has MP3 Player available. We currently have 67,000 available and are making 3,000 a day. Go click the link in my bio to purchase.”
Uploading several other promotional posts, including a screen shot of Twitter’s trending, where Donda 2 at that time sat at number 3, the artiste delved deep, further explaining his decision to boycott the traditional streaming services.

“I feel that same feeling like when I first moved to New York to make it in music,” a reference fans can now understand after watching part one of the Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy documentary.
“I ain’t know what was gonna happen but I knew I had to move. After 10 albums and being under 10 contracts. I turned down a hundred million Apple deal. No one can pay me to be disrespected. We set our own price for our art. Tech companies made music practically free so if you don’t do merch and tours you don’t eat,” the artiste passionately wrote.
He went on to note that Jay-Z, who he described as his big brother, had explained to him in his own words, that he created Tidal, and the fake media attacked him. West vowed that he is willing to die standing, asking God to cover him, and jeered the platforms saying, “Come and get me.”

He also explained to fans that, with Stem Player, he requires no permission, as he manages the entire company.
“This is our 2nd generation stem player We have more things [that we’re] working on. I feel like how I felt in the first episode of the documentary,” the Yeezy designer said.
While some fans were understanding and supportive of West’s decision, many were not pleased and both Instagram and Twitter users came in their droves to express frustration.

Twitter user @Mescud in all-block letters wrote, “KANYE I AM NOT SPENDING $200 FOR DONDA 2. ILL FIND THAT SH*T ONLINE 😡 . “

@realwav via Twitter, wrote, “Guess I ain’t listening to Donda 2,” while another uploaded a McDonalds fries container filled with ketchup and ketchup container filled with fries, adding the caption, “How amma be eatin after spending $200 to listen to Donda 2.”

Fans on Instagram shared similar sentiments, with one explaining that the announcement ruined their night and @gabes.instagrahm said, “all 8 people are gonna love donda 2.”

The star also uploaded an image of Donda 2‘s executive producer, Future, expressing the honour he felt with the rapper quoting his bars.
West also showed love to American rapper J. Cole who, via Instagram, thanked Ye and director Coodie (Clarence Simmonds Jr) for a, “phenomenal vulnerable, powerful sad inspirational insightful masterful,” Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy documentary. “Grateful to have watched,” the Wet Dreamz rapper continued.

Donda 2 is set for release on February 22 (2/22 /22). Uploading the track list for the album, West announced that he will be live in concert on that day at the Loan Depot Park in Miami, Florida.
