Acclaimed rapper and producer Kanye West shares his ongoing struggle with suicidal thoughts since the death of his mother, Donda West in 2007.

West says he blamed himself and his success for her electing to do cosmetic surgery, which resulted in her untimely death at 58 years old.

Donda had liposuction, a tummy tuck and a breast reduction.

In a recent X post, during what seemed to be one of Kanye’s regular rant sessions, he said, “I thought about killing myself at least once a month ever since my mama was killed in her surgery. I always blamed myself.”

“I felt like if I never ‘made it’ my mom would still be alive,” he added.

“People ask if I’m okay,” he said in the following post. “[These] past five weeks have been the first time I haven’t wanted to kill myself.”

West has always been candid about his struggles with his mother’s passing, even naming his 2021 album ‘Donda‘ in her memory.

West, who was previously ‘misdiagnosed’ with bipolar disorder announced late last year that he has autism.

Speaking to Justin Laboy on The Download, West said his wife Bianca Censori suggested he get re-diagnosed. “I went to this doctor … My wife took me to do that because she said, ‘Something about your personality doesn’t feel like it’s bipolar, I’ve seen bipolar before.’ And I’ve come to find that it’s really a case of autism that I have.”

The ‘Stronger‘ singer also previously noted that he no longer takes medication for bipolar disorder, and believes autism is not an illness that requires medication.

Fans on social media express concern for West, some wondering why he has not been receiving help, one writing, “I think he [has] needed to say this out loud for a long time. I hope he heals.”

“He is screaming for help..” another wrote.
