Kingston College (KC) became only the second school in Penn Relays history to win the Championship of America 4×400 title for four consecutive years, while Calabar won the 4×100 for a record equalling ninth time.

KC were without their 400m champion Tahj-Marques White but the quartet of Jabulani McLeod, Markel Smith, Roshawn Lee and Marcinho Rose stopped the clock at 3:05.93—the second fastest time ever behind the 3:03.79 done by the Chris Taylor-led Calabar in 2018.

Rose, who had a 45.04 split, held off America’s young Olympian Quincy Wilson, who brought Bullis School from fifth to second on the back of an impressive 43.99 split. Bullis’ 3:06.31 is an American record.

Calabar, which had the lead entering the final leg, finished third in a season’s best 3:06.52 while early leaders Excelsior High were fourth in 3:07.98.

Jamaica College finished fifth in 3:08.06 while St Elizabeth Technical High School were disqualified.

Earlier, Calabar continued their dominance of the 4×100, stopping the clock at 39.79 with the quartet of Jamal Stephenson, Shaquane Gordon, Dijon Swaine and Kimani Gordon.

American high school Archbishop John Carroll finished second in 40.04 ahead of KC in 40.16. Excelsior High with 40.36 was fourth.

In the boys’ 4×800 relay final, KC were the best-placed Jamaican team, finishing sixth in 7:44.95 while Calabar High were 10th in 7:51.46. Rockhurst won in 7:33.83 ahead of St John’s College with 7:34.26.

The 129th Penn Relay continues on Saturday with the high school girls’ finals.
