Kemal Brown, founder and executive Chairman of the Digita Global Group of companies, has been invited to Barbados to participate in a business pitch programme titled “Planting Seeds.”
The programme will be filmed from September 26 to 29, 2024, perfectly interwoven within the prestigious “Barbados Bound: A Mission of Impact and Innovation” event.
The pitching event seeks to connect entrepreneurs with investors in key sectors such as sustainability development, technology, innovation, the creative economy, and positioning Barbados as a regional hub for forward-thinking ventures.
Brown will be wearing the hat of the founder and director of Digita Ventures, the private equity and venture capital arm of the Digita Global Group, which is based in St Lucia. He is aptly positioned to support and elevate emerging businesses having mentored numerous start-ups across the region. While Digita Ventures is in the embryonic stages of raising its first venture capital fund, Brown has already been an angel investor in three companies and provided significant later-stage support for another. The firms are based in North America and the Caribbean and span three distinct sectors.

He will be one of several high-profile investors and business leaders in attendance, participating in sessions designed to uncover new growth opportunities and accelerate innovation in the Caribbean. The Planting Seeds initiative will provide a platform for start-ups to pitch their ideas, and investors will offer feedback, guidance, and potential capital to help them scale.
“I see this as a great opportunity to re-engage with founders across the region, and Planting Seeds is a significant opportunity to do just that,” said Brown.
“A large part of my mission is to sow the seeds of operational insight, financial discipline and business acumen in early-stage companies. Planting Seeds is perfectly aligned with this vision, and I’m looking forward to discovering promising ventures in Barbados and beyond that have the potential for partnership and equity investment,” he indicated.

The “Barbados Bound“ event, set in the beautiful and historic Fustic House, will bring together stakeholders from across the Caribbean and internationally, with discussions centred on the Orange Economy, Sustainable Energy, Product Manufacturing, and the integration of cutting-edge technology into traditional business sectors. Brown’s participation underscores his dedication to fostering entrepreneurial growth and building bridges between start-ups and investors with a vision for a more sustainable and innovative future.
“Barbados and the wider Caribbean are at a critical juncture for entrepreneurship, and events like these offer a unique opportunity for collaboration and growth. The Caribbean has so much potential, and I’m excited to be part of the process that helps turn entrepreneurial dreams into reality,” added Brown.
Stephanie Pemberton, CEO of Planting Seeds Caribbean Limited, expressed her enthusiasm for Brown joining them for Season 5.

“As we strive to build a robust regional investment ecosystem, Kemal stands out as a key figure in the new generation of investors who recognise the immense potential in the growth and development of Caribbean businesses. His participation underscores our commitment to fostering innovation and opportunity within the region,” she noted.
