Still on a high after releasing his book Midnight to Victory Devotional: 90 Days of Faith, Hope, Prayer & Breakthrough, which became a best-selling book on Amazon in the spiritual growth books category in August, Kevin Downswell, was more elevated after being conferred with the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer during the Investiture and Presentation of National Honours and Awards 2025 at King’s House on Monday.

“I’m very, very humbled and thankful to be recognised at this level in my own nation. I’m very grateful and very thankful to receive this award. When this comes to KD, it’s like my heart is always Kingdom,” Downswell briefly told Our Today after collecting his instruments from Governor General Sir Patrick Allen.

“We don’t seek awards, but these are an inspiration. They keep you going. They keep you fighting. Keep you pushing and I’m very humbled and thankful to be recognised at this level in my own nation, very thankful,” he said.

He briefly reflected on how his career started and said singing has been his gift “as time went by” he wanted his gift to impact more than just through music.

Downswell is now happy that his career blossomed through social media, where he can now minister to millions at a time, especially on a Monday morning, or through writing what God has inspired him to share through his book.

“I wanted my gift to impact more than through music, so whether it be through praying with you on social media on a Monday morning or writing a book or whatever it is, it’s always gratitude to be able to impact through whatever medium God has blessed me with,” he said.

He added, “The book released a month ago, is still one of Amazon’s best-sellers, and it was my Monday morning prayers that inspired that book.”

The gospel powerhouse and stage minister was also one of the performers at the event, where he delivered a rendition of his newest hit single Bless Me on the Afro Gospel anthem produced by PantaSon Music. Bless Me was released on September 1.
