KFC Jamaica will be a sponsor of the inaugural Grand Slam Track event, set to take place from April 4 to 6 at the National Stadium in St Andrew.

KFC said this partnership underscores its “unwavering commitment” to developing sports and promoting sports tourism in Jamaica.

The Grand Slam Track event presents a crucial opportunity to reinforce the island’s reputation as a premier host for world-class competitions. It further cements its status as a hub for sporting excellence and international recognition.

Founded by four-time Olympic gold medallist Michael Johnson of the United States the series is poised to redefine professional track and field competitions. The event marks the significant elevation of innovation in sports, attracting elite athletes to Jamaican soil.

In alignment with its corporate social responsibility initiatives, KFC Jamaica will provide 1,200 meals to support the dedicated staff and volunteers throughout the event. Additionally, the company will distribute 1,500 tickets to high school students across the island, allowing them to witness world-class athletic performances firsthand.

Andrei Roper, KFC Jamaica’s Marketing Manager, articulated the significance of this initiative: “KFC believes in Jamaica’s ability to host world-class sporting events of the highest order. To have athletes of this calibre here competing in what is a World Championship year is a BIG DEAL for Jamaica. KFC feels it is important to give our young high schoolers, and especially our young high school track athletes, a chance to see world-class athletes in person. It will be a great experience for them and their development.”

Michael Johnson, founder and Commissioner of Grand Slam Track, expressed his appreciation for the partnership, “It’s really fantastic to have a great brand like KFC on board, who shares the vision of what we want to achieve with Grand Slam Track here in Jamaica.”

KFC Jamaica said this sponsorship reflects a strategic investment in the country’s sports tourism sector, promising economic and cultural benefits.

KFC Jamaica said: “Sport is an indelible part of Jamaican culture, deeply woven into the national identity and celebrated as a source of unity, pride, and excellence. From the exploits of sprint legends to the fervent passion for grassroots athletics, Jamaica has long been a global force in track and field.

“As the anticipation builds for the Grand Slam Track event, KFC Jamaica remains dedicated to fostering opportunities that celebrate athletic prowess and inspire the youth.”
