KFC’s Morant Bay grand opening unfolded as a full-day experience at the Morant Bay Urban Centre, beginning with a private ceremony that brought together invited guests, partners and stakeholders representing both national and local leadership on Saturday, January 17.

The occasion marked a key milestone for the brand in St Thomas, building on the restaurant’s soft opening in December 2025 and setting the tone for what was to follow.

The ceremony, hosted by Debbie Bissoon, featured remarks from Managing Director Mark Myers, Member of Parliament for St Thomas Western James Robertson, and Rupert Anderson, who delivered remarks on behalf of the Member of Parliament for St Thomas Eastern, Yvonne Shaw.

Municipal leaders were also in attendance, featuring remarks from Mayor Louis Chin, reflecting wide support for the new location and its role within the Morant Bay Urban Centre and the wider St. Thomas community.

Following the official ribbon cutting, guests were invited to tour the new restaurant, getting a closer look at the $350 million investment and the spaces designed to serve the community. The walkthrough was brought to life by the restaurant’s team members, whose pride and enthusiasm were evident as guests sampled familiar KFC favourites and interacted across the floor.
