KFC Jamaica is once again a major sponsor of the National Child Month Committee’s 2024 Child Month initiatives, which are being observed this year under the theme ‘Stand Up! Speak Out! Protect the Rights of Our Children’.

KFC expressed delight in partnering with this year’s Child Month initiatives with its donation of J$700,000, which comprises J$200,00 in cash and 400 meals for care packages for underserved children.

This partnership between KFC Jamaica and the National Child Month Committee was forged during the COVID-19 pandemic when the quick-service restaurant operator provided meal sponsorship of the Children’s Pickney Party Talent Showcase in 2020 and continues to do so.

Restaurants of Jamaica Brand Manager Andrei Roper remarked: “Restaurants of Jamaica is extremely honoured to partner once again with the National Child Month Committee for this year’s Child Month programme of activities. Preserving the rights of our children remains of the utmost importance to us at KFC.

“We realise that there are those children in our society who are particularly at much greater risk, and we at KFC intend to do our part, alongside the National Child Month Committee, to help ensure that these children receive the assistance they so greatly need.”

KFC Jamaica remains committed to child development, firmly believing that every citizen has a responsibility to ensure that children are provided with the best environment to learn, grow and thrive.

Month launch. The event was held on April 25 at the Institute of Jamaica.

“Through this partnership, we aim to provide a safe and secure environment so children can receive the love, guidance and support they deserve so they can all reach their full potential,” Roper added.

Chairperson of the National Child Month Committee Nicole Patrick-Shaw expressed gratitude to KFC, stating, “KFC has been a fabulous partner for us, especially during our challenging moments during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are happy to have the team at KFC on board again for this year’s initiatives as they have always been a generous sponsor. The children are always excited to receive meals from KFC and it brings us joy that they play such a large role in making the children feel like a big deal.”

The National Child Month Committee was established in 1953 with a mandate to create programmes during Child Month that promote the social, mental, and physical wellness of children. The committee plans and executes youth initiatives throughout the year, ranging from as early as Child Month in May to Youth Month in November.
