Jamaican Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or nominee

Khadija Monifa “Bunny” Shaw, the star forward for Women’s Super League club Manchester City W.F.C. and the Jamaica women’s national team, has been nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or Féminin, the women’s equivalent of the elite award.

The 2023 listing, published on Wednesday, September 6, is testament to the remarkable season Shaw has had this year playing with Manchester City, securing the record as the highest goal scorer in a single season in the club’s history. This season Shaw has scored 31 goals with 11 assists in 35 matches, according to the list publisher on the France Football website.

Shaw’s nomination comes on the heels of Manchester City’s Women’s Player of the Season awards ceremony, where she was crowned Player of the Season and also earned the Goal of the Season accolade for her stunning strike against Arsenal in April 2023. Her 31 goals across all competitions broke the record for the most goals scored by a women’s player in a single season.
