Kingston businessman killed in reported shootout with the police

A 43-year-old businessman of a Kingston 11 address was fatally shot in a reported shootout with the police in St Catherine on the weekend.

He has been identified Andrew Powell otherwise called ‘Bunty’, of Largie Road.

The police have reported that Powell was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police on Kings Street, in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Saturday, September 14.

The police said that the incident occurred at about 4:55 pm and a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver containing four rounds of ammunition was seized from the deceased.

The incident was reported to the Inspectorate of Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and the Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM).
