After three days of thrilling track and field performances at the ISSA/Gracekennedy Boys and Girls Championship at the National Stadium, the North Street-based Kingston College High School and Hydel High School emerged as leaders of the Boys and Girls Championship.

Defending champions Kingston College topped the leaderboard with 124 points after 15 events ahead of Jamaica College with 121 points and Calabar High School, with 70 points.

On the female side, Hydel High School held a one-point marginal lead ahead of defending champions Edwin Allen High School with 98 points after 16 events.

The Manchester-based Holmwood Technical decided that they would not be left out of Thursday’s race, securing the third spot on the leaderboard with 74 points.

The day was filled with outstanding performances from Jamaica’s young athletes. Hydel’s Jody-Ann Daley ran 53. 61 seconds in the class 2 girls 400m to secure the championship title.

Delano Kennedy of the Frankfield-based Edwin Allen High school secured the gold medal in the class 1 boy’s 400m event clocking 45.27 seconds.

On the female side, Rickianne Russell of Holmwood Technical secured the gold medal in the class 1 girl’s 400m event with a time of 51.26 seconds.
