
The Church Street offices of the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) will be closed for ‘deep cleaning and sanitation’ on Tuesday (January 12) as an employee of the mayor’s department tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams, is a series of tweets on Monday, said that out of an abundance of caution he has begun observing quarantine protocols along with other members of staff.
“Following confirmation that a member of the Mayor’s Department has tested positive for COVID-19 [yesterday], January 11, the [KSAMC] offices will be closed tomorrow, January 12 for deep cleaning,” he explained.
“I have therefore immediately quarantined myself and made arrangements to be tested along with other possibly exposed staff members,” Mayor Williams added.
Jamaica confirmed 123 new cases within the last 24 hours bringing the national tally to 13,760. The island is managing 1,762 active cases, while 11,526 persons have made a full recovery from the infectious disease.
Some 315 patients have died from coronavirus-related complications since Jamaica first confirmed a case of COVID-19 in March 2020.
