Kintyre Holdings Limited has moved into the spirits business with the acquisition of Kulcha Rum, a Jamaican-made product distilled under contract at a facility on Pechon Street in downtown Kingston and already distributed islandwide through Miracle Corporation.
The deal establishes a new spirits division within the company as it continues to broaden its footprint across key sectors of the Jamaican economy.
The acquisition comes amid a record-breaking nine-month financial performance for the period ended September 30, 2025, underscoring Kintyre’s aggressive merger and acquisition strategy and its plans for expansion both locally and overseas.
Kulcha Rum’s product line includes White Rum, Gold Rum, and a cannabis-inspired flavour variant created using herbal notes while remaining fully compliant with Jamaican regulatory standards. The brand already enjoys visibility across tourist destinations, gift shops, supermarkets, and retail bars across the island.
Tyrone Wilson, president and CEO of Kintyre Holdings, said the move aligns directly with the company’s long-term ambition to build culturally relevant Jamaican brands.
Wilson explained that the rebranding and restructuring of the company gave it “the ability to step into the next phase” and pursue industries that reflect the identity and potential of the Jamaican economy.“
Kintyre Holdings is focused on building strong brands across various sectors in various countries, and Kulcha Rum fits squarely into that ambition. The rum industry is one of Jamaica’s most globally recognised sectors, and owning a brand that is already gaining traction across tourism and retail gives us the ability to scale into international markets over time.”
Wilson noted that rum, in particular, has always been one of Jamaica’s strongest cultural and economic exports. “Jamaican-made rum is recognised worldwide. It’s a part of our heritage and one of the biggest expressions of who we are as a people,” he said. “Kulcha Rum already has a home in the tourism sector, and we believe it will give Kintyre Holdings international reach over time.”
Kintyre Holdings has begun assembling a specialised team around its new Spirits Division, including experienced industry professionals, an internal marketing unit, and strengthened trade marketing support across retail.
“When this opportunity arose, it was clear that Kulcha Rum could become a meaningful brand for us,” said Wilson. “We’re excited and humbled by the trust placed in us by Peter Bovell and Richard Lee from Miracle Distributors. This acquisition complements the major moves we’ve been making in Jamaica and in the United States as Kintyre Holdings continues to scale.”
