The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders secured a thrilling 32-run victory over the Gulf Giants, thanks to a strong bowling performance from West Indies stars Andre Russell, Jason Holder, and Sunil Narine, booking their spot in the International League T20 play-offs.
Batting first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the Knight Riders posted 179 for one in 20 overs, powered by half-centuries from openers Michael Pepper and Phil Salt.
Pepper led the charge with 83 off 51 balls, hitting six fours and four sixes, while Salt remained unbeaten on 72 off 56 deliveries, including four sixes and two fours, forming a 131-run opening partnership in just 15 overs.
Chasing 180 to stay alive in the tournament, the Gulf Giants stumbled early as captain Jason Holder removed Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck and James Vince for 19, leaving them 24 for two. Russell and Narine then dismantled the middle and lower order, ensuring the Giants could only reach 147 for nine. At 107 for four in the 15th over, the Giants still had hope, but Russell and Narine struck again, picking up the next five wickets, including Kyle Mayers for six.
Russell finished with 3-13 in two overs, Narine claimed 2-14, and Holder added 2-24, sealing a dominant performance for the Knight Riders. The win sets up a January 1 Eliminator clash against the Dubai Capitals, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
