Jamaican reggae sensation Koffee closes out 2020 with Lockdown being the number one song in the country, according to data provided by YouTube.
The feel-good, pandemic-themed single, which was released in July, has amassed 7.93 million views in Jamaica alone. Lockdown easily outperformed the next best Jamaican hit, From Rags to Riches by TeeJay, which ends the year with 5.84 million local streams.
Tarrus Riley’s breakaway collaboration with Shenseea, Lighter, had to settle for third with 5.78 million views.
Women occupy seven of the top 20 songs this year, encouraged by efforts from newcomer Shaniel Muir as well as Jada Kingdom, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion.
Skillibeng continues to prove his appeal with dancehall fans as the most successful artiste this year. Five of the top 20 songs out of Jamaica are from the EastSyde Records musician.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Jamaican music fans showed an insatiable appetite as the top 20 songs boast a minimum viewership of 3.39 million streams.
