Jamaican reggae sensation Koffee was finally able to make her long-awaited debut performance at weekend one of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival held in California last Saturday (April 16).

Much to the delight of Koffee fans at home and abroad, the Jamaican delivered a well-executed set for a crowd of 125,000 people inside the Empire Polo Grounds, Indio venue.

Clad in summer yellow shorts, a white top and matching white sneakers, the 22-year-old began her set on a high note, spitting the lyrics to her hit single Rapture.

After capturing the audience in the ‘rapture’ of her first song selection, Koffee immediately segued into one of her newly released songs, Gifted, the title track from her recently released debut album.

If crowd engagement during her performance and social media reactions in its aftermath were any indication, it would appear that the Toast singer made quite the impression on audiences tuned in to the Coachella festival.

While Koffee performed, members of the predominantly Caucasian audience could be seen nodding and rocking, indicating via body language their agreement with the positive sentiments shared about her performance online.

In fact, following the St Catherine native’s performance, one Twitter user wrote: “I love to see Jamaicans doing well on the international scene!! Koffee at #Coachella.”

Another stated: “Watching Koffee at Coachella and mi glad bag full.”

Making Koffee’s performance a highly anticipated one was the fact that she had initially been set to make her debut on the festival’s 2020 line-up with now-embattled rapper Travis Scott as the headliner.

Due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, however, the festival has been on hiatus since its 2019 staging.

With one performance down, Koffee is expected to take the stage once again at the festival on Saturday (April 23) as part of weekend two of Coachella, which will run from April 22 and 24.
