Vendors who operate in the popular seafood hotspot at Crab Circle in Heroes Circle, Kingston, were ordered by the Kingston and St Andrew (KSA) Health Department to cease operation due to non-compliance with public health regulations on Thursday (October 5).

There has been much discussion in the public domain following a viral video that surfaced on social media which showed a vendor carrying out an unhygienic act in a stall at the location.

According to a notice of closure issued by the KSA Health Department, the crab hotspot is being ordered closed due to non-compliance with the Public Health (Food Handling) Regulations of 1998.

It noted that the notice will remain in effect until further advised.

The department also cautioned vendors against conducting commercial operations in the location during the closure.

Persons who enter the location while it is ordered closed will be deemed to have committed a breach.

Efforts to obtain a comment from the Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams and the Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton up to the time of publication were unsuccessful.
