The Ministry of Labour and Social Security says it has been providing psychological support to the family of a Jamaican worker who died while on the farm work programme in Canada and is making plans to repatriate the body of the deceased.

The 32-year-old was a first-time migrant worker working on a farm in Niagra-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada.

An official report from the Jamaica Liaison Service in Canada has confirmed that it received notification at approximately 7:25 am on May 26 that the Jamaican worker had not awakened that morning and that efforts at resuscitation by Paramedics had been unsuccessful.

A subsequent report confirmed that the Coroner had determined that the death was due to natural causes.
