The Ministry of Labour and Social Security is set to meet with the Jamaica Mid-Wives Association (JMA) and the Ministry of Health and Wellness today (June 8) for an emergency conciliatory meeting following a two-day sick-out by mid-wives across the island.

The meeting will be held at the Labour Ministry North Street head office at 8: 30 a.m.

The midwives have been reportedly taking industrial action to voice their concerns surrounding the New Public Sector Compensation System.

Reports are that the healthcare workers are protesting discrepancies and anomalies with their salaries and poor working conditions.
