Opposition Leader Mark Golding expanded People’s National Party (PNP) spokesperson on the Public Service, Lambert Brown’s portfolio to include matters relating to persons with disabilities (PWDs).
In a statement on Tuesday (January 19), the PNP explained that Brown fills the void of and addresses any conflict of interest for fellow Opposition Senator Dr Floyd Morris, who was elected to United Nations (UN) Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in November 2020.
On his new role, Senator Morris said that it “requires me to monitor the global landscape as itoo persons with disabilities and in order to avoid any conflict of interest, I deem it prudent to give up the responsibility for shadowing matters relating to this group of individuals in Jamaica.”
“Senator Brown is more than capable and we look forward to continuing our work as a robust opposition,” Golding said.
“It is an honour to be called to carry on the mantle of Senator Morris. I look forward to making meaningful representations on behalf of, and establishing robust partnerships with, Jamaicans with disabilities as part of my new role,” Brown said.
