Largest renewable energy tender in Jamaica’s history

The Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), in collaboration with the General Procurement Entity (GPE) and RELP recently hosted a Request for Proposal Briefing for a 300 MW Renewables and 150 MW BESS renewable energy project with various members of the Diplomatic Corps.

This marks the largest renewable energy tender in Jamaica’s history and builds on the success of the 2023 auction, which was oversubscribed fivefold and achieved pricing below regional benchmarks.

This current procurement, which officially opens for applications on August 3, 2026, is designed to attract qualified local and international investors through a transparent and bankable framework, including a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement and a co-located renewable energy and battery storage model.

The session provided key insights that will enable members of the diplomatic corps to share with interested investors from their respective countries with the aim of enabling a highly competitive, diverse and reliable bidding process for the project. It follows the Request for Interest launch, hosted by JAMPRO earlier this year.
