Local remittance agency LASCO Financial Services Limited (LFSL) said the outcome of its partnership with global remittance service provider Remitly has so far exceeded its expectations.
LFSL officially started providing Remitly cash pickup through its agent network last month. Remittance customers may also receive Remitly payments directly to their LASCO GOLD Visa Prepaid Card.
“Customers can already receive Remitly transactions directly to the LASCO GOLD Visa Prepaid card when the sender selects Visa Debit as the payout method, the receiver only needs to provide the card information to the sender. Customers can request a card through www.lascogold.com or visit a participating agent location with their ID and TRN (tax registration number),” LFSL Marketing Manager Danielle Dysdale told Our Today.
Remitly is a global digital services provider that facilitates through its mobile application the cross-border movement of money. It operates in over 170 countries.
Since March 2019, the global online service provider has been a partner with digital payments technology company Visa, using the company’s push payments platform, Visa Direct, as a fast, secure and transparent channel to effect cross-border payments.
Drysdale explained that LFSL’s partnership with Remitly affords remittance senders a “convenient and cost-effective alternative to traditional methods” of sending money and that the payout rates are competitive with those of other remittance providers.
“It has already surpassed our projections to date, bringing new customers into our agent network and we expect to see the numbers grow,” Drysdale said without providing more in-depth details.
Looking ahead, she said that the company remains keen on offering “value-rich” financial services that will enhance its customers’ everyday lives and so it is looking for partnerships such as what it now has with Remitly.
