Montego Bay United became the first team to book a spot in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League Playoffs by beating Spanish Town Police FC 6-0 at Jarett Park on Sunday.

Montego Bay continue to lead the table with 65 points, and with six games remaining, they cannot be surpassed by six teams, hence securing their Top Six playoff spot.

Lucas Lima Correa opened the floodgates in the 15th minute before Brian Brown doubled the advantage in minute 31. Deonjay Brown grabbed a brace in minutes 41 and 49. Kegan Caull made it 5-0 netting in the 68th minute, and Jahmari Clarke put the icing on the cake in the 85th minute.

Meanwhile, Caribbean champions Mount Pleasant suffered a rare defeat, crashing 0-1 to Tivoli Gardens at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex. Trevin Garnett scored a late winner in the 90+7 minute.

However, Mount Pleasant remained in second spot on 60 points while Tivoli Gardens climbed to 41 points in 10th spot, sitting seven points adrift of a playoff position.

At Turner Oval, the visiting Cavalier trounced home team Chapelton Maroons 4-1 and solidified the last playoff spot on 48 points. They are four points above the chasing Dunbeholden FC in seventh place with 44 points.

Osani Ricketts scored an own goal that gave Cavalier a 27th-minute lead. Just two minutes later, Jason Wright pulled Chapelton levelled in the 29th minute. But Akil Henry restored Cavalier’s lead in the 38th, before Sdrian Reid made the game safe in minute 56. Kimarly Scott put the icing on the cake, scoring in the 86th minute.

Chapelton are in ninth spot on 43 points, just five points off the last playoff spot with six games remaining.

Harbour View moved away from the relegation zone after beating fellow strugglers Treacher Beach 2-1.

Habbie Mohammed opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Shanoy Smith equalised for Treasure Beach in the 13th minute. However, in form Trayvone Reid once again found the clincher netting in the 83rd minute for his 19th goal of the season.

Harbour View are 11th on 32 points, while Treasure Beach are just behind on 30 points in 12th spot.

Portmore United edged Molynes United 1-0 at Constant Spring Complex courtesy of a Nichlas Nelson own goal in the 39th minute. Portmore United remained in fourth spot on 55 points and is well on its way to the playoffs. Molynes United are in serious trouble, sitting in the second relegation spot in 13th position on 27 points. They are three points from safety.

Javane Bryan popped up in the 89th minute and nodded home the winner as Waterhouse FC beat Racing United 1-0 at the Ferdie Neita Park. Waterhouse are clinging onto the fifth spot on 53 points. Racing remained in third spot on 55 points.

Dunbeholden clipped Arnett Gardens 2-1 to be seventh on 44 points, while Arnett Gardens, still harbouring hopes of making the playoffs, are in eighth spot on 43 points.
