LeBron James showed he’s far from done on Sunday night, sinking two clutch free throws with just 3.9 seconds left to give the Los Angeles Lakers a thrilling 116-114 win over the Phoenix Suns.
Despite being in the later stages of his career, James reminded fans why he’s still one of the league’s fiercest competitors, trading intense moments all night with Suns forward Dillon Brooks.
The game’s drama boiled over in the final seconds. Brooks hit a three-pointer to give Phoenix a one-point lead with 12.2 seconds left, but a physical exchange between him and James quickly followed. James barreled into Brooks, sending him to the floor, and after Brooks rose, he lightly tapped James’ chest. Officials stepped in, and Brooks was ejected, clearing the way for James’ game-winning free throws.
James finished with 26 points on 8 of 17 shooting, while Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 29 points and six assists. The victory lifted Los Angeles to 18-7 on the season. For Phoenix, Booker led the scoring with 27 points and 13 of 16 free throw shooting, while Brooks contributed 18 points in 25 minutes. The Suns now sit at 14-12, leaving both teams eager for the next showdown.
