With just a couple of days to go before FiX25 in St Phillip, Barbados, the organisers of the conference have announced the addition of Michael Lee-Chin Jr, founder and CEO of Seed Micro Finance to its lineup of speakers.

“We’re excited to welcome to the FiX25 stages a dynamic Jamaican entrepreneur who is continuing in the legacy of his famous father to sow his own “seeds” and drive financial access and opportunity with fintech,” the announcement read.

The son of a Jamaican-Canadian billionaire, Lee-Chin Jr has grown up around entrepreneurial prowess — his father being the chairman at National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited. He has, however, set himself apart by pursuing his own entrepreneurial vision with the launch of Seed Micro Finance.

Seed is on a mission to provide financial support to Jamaicans who are underserved by traditional financial institutions by making loans more accessible and less intimidating for consumers.

Lee-Chin Jr undertook the launch of the microfinancing venture through a partnership with banking and finance experts Andrew Paterson and Adrian Dunkley.

Seed uses an innovative loan approval process based on an applicant profile and a holistic view that goes beyond traditional credit scores.

Seed recognising that financial inclusion is not just a goal but a responsibility, Lee-Chin and his partners have pledged to “provide accessible financial solutions that bridge the gap for unbanked individuals, opening doors to entrepreneurship, education, personal growth, and financial inclusion”.

FiX25, will take place from January 22-24, 2025, at the stunning Sam Lord’s Castle, a Wyndham Grand Resort, in picturesque St. Philip, Barbados.
