Fit-again Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey and West Ham forward Michail Antonio have been recalled to Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz 24-man squad set to face El Salvador and the USA in crucial World Cup qualifiers later this month.
Bailey, who was nursing a thigh injury in recent weeks, is finally healthy again and started for Aston Villa in their 4-1 loss to Antonio’s West Ham at Villa Park on Sunday (October 31).
Antonio missed the recent qualifiers against Canada, the USA and Honduras because of a mix-up over the player’s physical trainer. However, the matter has now been resolved and he will join the squad for what is most likely must-win matches against El Salvador in El Salvador on Friday, November 12 and then the USA at the National Stadium in Kingston on November 16 in what will be the final set of matches until early 2022.
Also recalled to the Reggae Boyz squad is the mercurial midfielder Ravel Morrison, who last played for the Reggae Boyz when they lost 3-0 to Panama at the National Stadium in Kingston on September 5 and Cory Burke, who returns from injury.
The full squad comprises Andre Blake (captain), Dillion Barnes, Jeadine White, Liam Moore, Adrian Mariappa, Damion Lowe, Kemar Lawrence, Oneil Fisher, Gregory Leigh, Alvas Powell, Anthony Grant, Ravel Morrison, Devon Williams, Je-Vaughn Watson, Lamar Walker, Bobby Reid, Junior Flemmings, Cory Burke, Javon East, Shamar Nicholson, Andre Gray, Michail Antonio, Kemar Roofe and Leon Bailey.

After the recent round of matches when Jamaica achieved its first victory, a 2-0 win over Honduras on October 13, the Reggae Boyz sit sixth in the standings, three points below fourth-placed Panama. The team has played to draws with Costa Rica and Canada.
Mexico (14), USA (11) and Canada (10) are in the automatic World Cup qualifying spots at the top of the table. Costa Rica are a point ahead of Jamaica.
El Salvador, by virtue of an inferior goal difference, are seventh even though they are tied with Jamaica on points while Honduras are at the foot of the table with three points.
