Jamaica-based water company Lifespan Spring Water has heeded the call by Caribbean neighbours St Vincent and the Grenadines for aid and supplies in the wake of the eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
The company has donated a shipment of its bottled water to the relief cause. The handover was made by company CEO, Nayana Williams to June Barbour, honorary consul of St Vincent and the Grenadines to Jamaica.
The donation comprises 100 cases of its 5L formats to the recovery efforts. Since the beginning of the seismic event, many Vincentian residents have been displaced seeking refuge in neighbouring islands and in shelters.

Yesterday (April 16), Our Today reported that CIBC FirstCaribbean has sent a shipment of much-needed supplies to the island. The shipment, which was coordinated by the Barbados Coast Guard, left the island on Thursday (April 15) evening aboard the Admiral Bay which was due to arrive in St Vincent early Friday morning and was to be presented to the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO).
The relief supplies, which include over 40 pallets of food, water, cleaning supplies and sanitary items were purchased by funds donated by the bank’s charitable arm, the FirstCaribbean International ComTrust Foundation.
Colette Delaney, the foundation’s chair and the bank’s chief executive officer, said the bank shared a “deep concern for the wellbeing and safety of the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines as they are confronted with the twin threats of an erupting volcano and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic”.
